Here are a few things I’ve picked up after photographing many weddings. Just small tweaks that can make a big difference on the day:

• Add some breathing room to your timeline. Most weddings run 10 to 45 minutes behind, and that’s totally normal.

• Go for timeless hair and makeup. Bring inspo pics, have a trial, and trust your stylist’s advice.

• Thinking of doing a first look? It’s a great way to calm the nerves and get more time with your guests later.

• Guest list getting out of hand? Focus on the people who make you feel most at home.

• Appoint a calm, capable friend or planner to run the logistics so you can fully enjoy the moment.
